Challenge

To forecast sales and restock the shelves of their customers, distribution sales executives at PVM India had to visit various stores in their regional markets and fill out daily inventory paper reports by hand two to three time per week. Once completed, the reports needed to be couriered to the head office. The entire process could take up to 15 days and generated approximately 50,000 couriered documents each year.

Solution

The distribution sales executives were equipped with the Blackberry® Curve® 9,300 smartphone. The sales team can now securely send their market reports from their BlackBerry smartphones using email and web-based portals, while reducing the turnaround time to less than one day. The GPS feature helps track the sales executives’ locations, enabling effective dispatch of employees. There has been a 25% increase in the number of sales visits conducted by the company since the deployment.
